St Mary’s University, Twickenham are looking for a candidate to work on a six-month development project in the field of sports technology. Embedded with our partners, NURVV Ltd, the candidate will play a central role in prototyping and developing a new addition to NURVV’s current wearable technology product line. Development and testing activities will include optimising the output of wearable sensors, through algorithm development and signal processing, to provide performance measures for jumping and hopping movements. With responsibility for the design of laboratory and field-based trials involving human participants, the candidate will also implement the trials and be expected to collect, collate and analyse trial data.
The role will report to a senior academic at St Mary’s and direction will also be provided by sports scientists at NURVV Ltd.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong capability in understanding the scientific and data aspects of sport, and must have an undergraduate degree in Sports Science, Sports Engineering/Technology or a related field. They will have excellent IT, analytical, and organisational skills, as well as the ability to communicate with non-technical audiences. They should be outgoing, reliable, self-motivated and have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
